Long term testing at fixed potentials is vital in many branches of corrosion, coatings, cathodic protection and electrochemistry. The Pot 16 offers 16 individual potentiostats (number of channels can be determined by your needs). Each channel has a fixed current measurement range, selected on purchase for the type of testing to be performed. The standard range is 350mA with a resolution of 5µA.

Output potential can either be fixed, selected by a switch, or variable via a 10-turn dialled knob. Extra optional potential selectors may be added and channels grouped. Typical configurations would be all channels set by a two position switch selecting 1.5V or 3.5V, or channels 1-8 set from -5V to +5V via a 10 turn dialled knob and channels 9-16 set by their own dialled knob. Most standard Cathodic Disbondment tests (e.g. ISO15711, or ASTM G8, G42, G80, G95 or CSA Z-245) require 1.05V, 1.5V, 3V or 3.5V; however a galvanostat option can be added for the 3mA Australian and New Zealand standards (AS-3862, AS/NZS4352). Please specify which standards you require when quoting. We will ensure your Pot 16 complies.

A single dialled knob is fitted as standard, to allow a wide range of potentials to be selected for all channels. Additional dialled knobs may be specified to allow different potentials on groups of channels. In some cases a variable potential is not desirable, in which case, switches may be specified to allow selection between fixed potentials e.g. -1.5V & -3.5V.

Alternatively up to 4 fixed potentials may be ordered and allocated between the 16 channels at no extra cost. For example channels 1 to 8 could be set to -1.5V, channels 9 to 11 set to -3V, channel 12 to 14 set to -3.5V and 15 to 16 set at -4V. These potentials are set on internal 25 turn trimming potentiometers.

To increase the value of these tests both current and voltage are monitored and stored using very high accuracy internal voltmeters. The voltage should stay constant at the set potential but if this is not the case it is usually an indication of problems with the cell (for example a bubble in the Luggin probe).

The Pot 16 can easily be customised to the customers specifications. Higher current output, more channels, less channels, waterproof enclosure, alternative connectors and battery powered option are all possible. The Pot 16 is infinitely variable. It is designed to accommodate the needs and specifications of the end user.

All ACM instruments come with a two year warranty which may, at low cost, be increased to five years for peace of mind.

Pot 4

4 channel version of the Pot 16 in a smaller enclosure. 4 channels controlled by a single variable voltage or a single voltage switch. You could even have a switch or variable voltage per channel or for any number of channels. The choice is yours.

Pot 24

24 channel version of the Pot 16 in a larger enclosure. 24 channels controlled by a single variable voltage or a single voltage switch. You could even have a switch or variable voltage per channel or for any number of channels. As with all variants in the Pot 16 range, the choice is yours.

Pot 16 with Galvanostat

Same as a Pot 16 but you can choose either Potentiostat or Galvanostat mode for each channel. Like any Pot 16 variant the Pot 16 with Galvanostat is easily customised with a range of specifications and options to suit everyone.

Pot 16 Iso

The Pot 16 Iso has the same specifications as the Pot 16, but each channel is isolated allowing samples to be in the same solution.

Pot 16 Mono

The Pot 16 Mono is able to perform Cathodic Disbondment tests on up to 16 test electrodes in the same test tank. The instrument is capable of monitoring the individual current response from each of the 16 electrodes. Each of the 16 channels can be operated as if they are individual channels and switched off or on as required, thus enabling new tests to run alongside tests that have already been running for several weeks.

The polarisation potential is set via a ten turn dialled knob on the front panel that controls the global polarisation potential of all 16 electrodes between 0 to -5V. In other respects the Pot 16 Mono Cell is the same as for the standard Pot 16.

Running 16 channels in a single test cell has some advantages in that it is easier to run a single test cell and periodically replace some of the test solution.

Pot 16 Quad

Pot 16 QuadThe Pot 16 Quad has four 800mA potentiostats and sixteen 250mA ZRAs in a 4x4 arrangement. This allows up to sixteen samples to be tested in one cell or four samples each in four cells. Each potentiostat has its own -5V to +5V ten turn dialled knob allowing independent adjustment and as with all the Pot 16 based instruments the polarisation is maintained without software control.

As with all our instruments these specifications can be tailored to meet your individual requirements.
