Old instruments and new versions of Windows

Old instruments using sequencer version 2 and 3 are not compatible with modern versions of Windows.

A change in the way Windows uses its serial ports, which was implemented after Windows ME, will cause our version 2 and 3 sequencer software to record errors in the data and usually the instrument will hang.

Version 2 and 3 Sequencer software is only compatible with Windows '95, '98 and ME. We recommend Windows '98 SE (second edition) for stability.

If a computer compatible with Windows '95, '98 or ME is not available, then a virtual PC can be used, such as Windows Virtual PC or VirtualBox.

Instruments using version 4 Sequencer software can be updated free of charge to version 5. Just contact ACM Instruments with your serial number. The latest version of the Sequencer is v5.2.1 and Core Running v5.1.7. For Windows 10 and 11 you will need Core Running version 5.1.7 or later. You can check the Core running version by selecting About in the channel control window. The latest version 5 software will run on Windows XP SP3 through to Windows 11.
